Wrinkle Removing with a Clothes Steamer

Clothing steamers like the Tobi steamer are not just about convenience. Steam is probably the best way to take wrinkles out of clothes without damaging the fabric. Flat irons have a habit of scorching delicate fabrics. Perhaps this is why the Tobi Steamer is seen in the trunks of so many traveling celebrities. It is safe to use in almost every situation and it is just as effective if not more effective at getting wrinkles out of delicate fabrics and also oddly tailored items that have details such as thin ties, pleats or kick pleats.

A clothes steamer like the Tobi steamer is not that much different than plugging in the iron except that you do not lay the item of clothing down on a flat ironing board. You simply steam the item of clothing while it is still on the hanger with shots of superheated steam. The hot vapor has the effect of smoothing out the wrinkles as the droplets of water temporarily weigh down the fabric. As an added bonus it also sterilizes and kills bacteria that might be in the clothing.

Using a Tobi steamer is also safer for you in general. Although the water inside the Tobi steamer tank is super heated it immediately cools down once the water droplets are sprayed into the air. It is difficulty to harm yourself unless you accidentally point the iron towards your face or body. Otherwise most parts of the Tobi steamer and the Tobi Travel Steamer are very cool to the touch. The handle too is specifically designed so that when you are removing wrinkles from clothing you do not scald or burn yourself in any way.

To remove wrinkles all you have to do heat up the Tobi steamer by plugging it in. Like all clothes steamers the Tobi clothing steamer works by heating up water to the boiling point and then gushing the vapor or steam directly onto the clothing. The steam cools off quite quickly so it is hard to scald yourself unless you shoot the steam directly onto your skin. The final result is that the combination of moisture and heat weighs down the clothing fabric and straightens it out. The article of clothing can be hung up and sprayed while on hanger or it can be placed on a surface and the steam applied that way.

You can use the Tobi steamer as a wrinkle remover almost every type of fabric including delicate chiffons and silks. However it is not recommended that you use the Tobi travel steamer or the Tobi Steamer on any type of suede, leather or polyvinyl type material like "pleather." Certain polyesters do not take well to steam cleaning either as the plastic fibers in the material melt a bit. This can cause the fabric to look distorted or discolored over time.

If you are not sure whether or not Tobi steam cleaning is right for your garment you can always check the tags attached to the inseam or neck of your clothing item. This can usually tell you whether or not the garment can tolerate heat or moisture. Some tags nowadays will even give you specific instructions about steam cleaning.
